Yellowstone National Park - Day 1

Last summer, during our move, we visited Yellowstone and the Tetons. I loved being there! So much beauty every where you look!

We had a long drive the first day and pulled into the Western entrance of Yellowstone National Park later in the afternoon. We spotted a few elk on the way.

Our first destination was Lower Geyser Basin, which is a nice walk that loops around. It’s a great spot to stretch your legs after a long drive! We saw beautiful pools, mud pits and even caught an eruption!

Yellowstone has many roads and areas to explore as you travel. We wanted to see Grand Prismatic Spring so we explored Midway Geyser Basin. We didn’t see much of that particular spring because there was so much steam at the time!

We were blessed to catch a gorgeous sunset while we were there though!

We didn’t see any animals, but spotted very large footprints! We were thinking perhaps moose and wolf or dog. I’m not an expert on prints though so I can’t tell you if it was moose vs elk etc. Perhaps they were something else entirely. Maybe you can tell me! Leave a comment below if you have an idea.

We couldn’t end our night without seeing Old Faithful, so of course we stopped and waited to watch! Darkness was falling and the stars were just coming out when our wait was rewarded!

We headed to camp after that. The next morning we spotted bear paw prints right behind our camper!!! Yikes!

Come back for the Day 2 post to see more of our adventures.

(Hello bison, falls and Mammoth Hot Springs!)
